It started with a phone bill.
Ovenly didn’t begin as an AI idea. It began with a number on a real Australian pizza shop’s invoice that nobody could quite believe.
Ovenly began with a phone bill. We’d spent years close to the unglamorous side of small business, phone systems, call records, the invoices nobody else reads line by line. Pizza shops, takeaways, the lot. You learn to see patterns in that work.
One of them stopped us cold. A single suburban pizza shop, one location, had taken 694 customer calls in a month. Twenty-two a day. Sixty-nine seconds each on average. More than thirteen hours of someone’s time, every month, just holding a phone to their ear during the busiest hours of service.
And every one of those calls was answered the hard way: by a person who should have been making food, or serving the counter, or wasn’t there at all, so the call rang out and the order went to the shop down the street.
That was the moment. The phone is still how a huge share of pizza gets ordered in Australia, and it’s the one part of the shop nobody had fixed.
From observation to product.
One shop, 694 calls
Reviewing a real phone bill, the scale of phone traffic at a single pizza shop made the problem impossible to ignore. This wasn’t a hunch, it was on the invoice.
The phone was the gap
Online ordering and aggregators get all the attention, but a massive volume of orders still comes by phone, and answering them by hand quietly costs shops staff hours and lost orders every single night.
Build narrow, build deep
Not a generic AI receptionist for every business. One vertical, done properly: Australian pizza shops, voice ordering, end-to-end. Half-and-halves and family deals as first-class citizens.
Ovenly
An AI that answers the call, takes the order, takes the payment, prints to the kitchen, and hands the shop back a customer database and a way to win margin back from the aggregators.
The principles behind the product.
Real numbers, not guesses
Every claim we make traces back to actual data, a real shop’s real call traffic. No invented averages, no hand-waving.
Australian to the core
Australian voice, Australian suburbs and addresses, Australian POS systems, Australian Award-rate economics. Built here, for here.
Founder-led, no call centre
The people who built it walk you through your first two weeks. Real founder, real phone number, real Australian timezone.
